Winter Classic Media Blast- Day Two

It's day two of Case and Point's NHL Winter Classic adventure.  Yesterday we took you along as we skated on the rink at Heinz Field and attended the Winter Classic minor league prelude.  To view day one, click here.  To view day two, just read more!  As always, click the images to see the full sized picture.

Day two's main event- the Alumni Classic.  Famous Capitals and Penguins veterans took the ice to play a quick game to bring back some fond memories.

Rob Brown
Rick Tocchet
Bill Guerin
Ron Francis

Bryan Trottier

And of course Mario Lemieux

Shot of the rink from my seats:

The Penguins and Capitals alumni skated to a 5-5 tie.  It left a bit of a disappointing taste in the mouth of the fans but it was what it was: a change to see legends and idols play one last time.

After Mario held a press conference:

During the press conference I had the thrill of a life time.  It was minor but Mario answered the question I asked him.  The video to the press conference is here, my question is the second asked:

Following the Alumni Game, the Penguins took the ice for a quick practice:

Penguins winger Pascal Dupuis took the ice with some special head gear:

After, the Pens had some media time in the locker room.

Players in their media scrums:

Max Talbot
Alex Goligoski
Evgeni Malkin

Sidney Crosby's locker:

Snagged a quick interview with Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy:

For those unfamiliar with my question, in 24/7 they showed Ben Lovejoy taking a shot to the face.  The Penguins later took a plane flight and it caused the swelling in his face to increase:

Also had some time with Mike Rupp before the Penguins went about their way:

After that, the Capitals awaited their turn to take the ice for practice:

Alex Ovechkin waits in the penalty box:

Caps team photo:

Alex Ovechkin stretches:

The Caps practiced for a bit but by then the ice was rather chewed up:

The ice conditions were the topic of conversation in the Caps locker room:

Eric Fehr
John Carlson

Scott Hannan
Jay Beagle
Before packing it in for day two I had a moment of levity with Capitals rookie defender Karl Alzner:

And asked Capitals All Star Mike Green about the ice:

That's all for day two!  We will see you again soon and Happy New Year from Case and Point!
