It's the first annual Case and Point NHL Trade Deadline Live Blog!
Now this is done with no intention of anything actually happening. As it stands, most of the days trades have probably already been done. For a recap of what's happened, head over to TSN's Trade Tracker. However, we will be live at a party to track the deadline.
Follow along to see what happens as it happens. From every brew, all slices of pie, and each trade. Reactions, opinions, and random thoughts in the throws of boredom! Follow it all here!
And here... we... go...
Post is posted, Malkin jersey is on. We're off to the party. I'm off into the depths of Pittsburgh, PA and you're following along. Let's have some fun.
Stopping for breakfast at McDonalds. First trade of the day, Egg McMuffin meal for cash considerations.
After careful negotiations both sides have altered the deal. Sausage McMuffin coming my way instead. Cash difference is marginal.
I HAVE DUNKIN DONUTS Y'ALL!
Five hours left. Still think I'll drink more beer than there will be actual trades.
The TradeBreakers have to have the worst job today. Or best. Really not sure. But they have a job so its a one up on me.
First experience with Duthie's sound board. That must stop.
First P90X commercial. Took long enough.
First Alyonka sighting. Putting it on mute so I can really enjoy it.
THAT'S NOT JACK JOHNSON
Wait, yeah that is.
Second Music Bullet commercial.
I predict more Music Bullet appearances than actual trades.
FIRST TRADE! Andrei Kostitsyn to Nashville to play with his brother from Montreal. Yay! Something happened!
Please get Pierre McGuire off of my TV.
Random thought: Has anyone in Vancouver coined the term "Twinsanity" for the Sedins?
Montreal gets a 2nd rounder in 2013 from Nashville and a conditional 3rd.
Rumors of another trade eh? LEGGO!
Rick Nash on the ice. Not shocked that he won't be traded. He always seemed like he wanted to stay in Columbus.
Beer and trade count now even.
Jay Feaster? Hardly know her! AMIRITE EVERYONE C'MON!
The thought that Garth Snow is an NHL GM still amuses me.
Pizza is ordered. This excites me beyond words.
Jay Feaster has an impressive necks.
Mikka Kiprusoff is like 80 years old, right?
He's 35. Same thing.
McGuire makes me want to burn things.
Beer count now exceeding trade count by one.
Alyonka back on the TV.
And she's gone.
PIZZA IS HERE!
Still no more trades. So... yep.
And... I'm bored.
PIERRE MAKES ME STABBY GET HIM OFF OF THE TV.
Grant Clitsome claimed by Winnipeg off of waivers. Count it? Eh, half.
Great interview of Brian Burke. "That's really none of your business.". Followed by three straight "No." answers.
Related to Brian Burke: Truculent.
Steve Ott dropped that he "loved" playing in Dallas. Hmm...
Beers now outnumbering trades 3:1
LeBrun says the Islanders are shopping Al Montoya. He hasn't been the same since his cousin was gunned down in a Miami drug raid.
That's a Scarface joke, by the way.
Mike Commodore to the Lightning for a conditional 7th rounder to Detroit. Sigh.
PLEASE TAKE THE SOUND BOARD FROM DUTHIE
MyZone Headphones: Helping you become the most neglectful parent and spouse you can possibly be.
I've been told that if I marry Alyonka Larionov the honeymoon will be paid for. Ball's in your court, Alyonka.
"We have a trade to announce" AND NHL NETWORK CUTS AWAY DHDJSKDNDJDJDNSJDBDNXJDKDNDJD
It's Tom Gilbert to Minnesota for Nick Schultz who heads to Edmonton.
Ken Holland looks like he's melting.
The beers now outnumber trades 4:3
Bryan Allen off of the block, Spacek on it in Carolina. The hopes of Pens fans have been dashed.
We all know that Rick Nash isn't going anywhere. NEXT.
Pierre :( :( :( :(
Keith Aulie to the Lightning from the Leafs for don't know but its something. Beer and trades are tied.
It's for Carter Ashton. AHL trade. Some good young players switching teams. Okay then.
PIERRE AGAIN NOOOOOOO
Sharks close to Daniel Winnik according to TSN. Things heating up? God, I hope so.
Daniel Winnik to Sharks from Colorado done, going with TJ Galiardi. No word on what's going back. Happy for a trade, sad it means more Pierre.
Hour to go. Brian Lee to Tampa. Tampa stacking up on D. Odd.
Sami Pahlsson to Vancouver. Decent trade, shores up their bottom lines and makes then sturdier. No word on what's going back to Columbus.
Also TSN says Nash now 50% to be traded. Still don't see it.
Matt Gilroy heading to Ottawa. Jamie McGinn and prospects going to Colorado in their respective deals.
Johnny Oduya off to Chicago. The acquisition of Clitsome made him expendable, made sense. Smart move for Blackhawks, who had fewer Ds than a honor roll student.
2nd and a 3rd for Oduya. Two 4th for Pahlsson. There's your update.
Rangers really pressing Columbus on Nash. Man.
Half an hour to go.
Hope fading for anyone who wants Rick Nash. As I've continually said, seems like a player who wants to stay.
NHL Network Trade Update still talking about the first trade of the day...
15 minute warning!
Craig Patrick is involved in the Nash trade negotiations? Time to gobble together our three worst prospects and make it happen, Shero!
Five minutes left!
Brian Rolston to the Bruins.
TWO MINUTE WARNING
Paul Gaustad to the Predators from Buffalo. Mike Mottau going to Boston from the Islanders. Gaustad was going for a 1st. but no idea what Nashville paid. They want to make a run, especially after last season.
Columbus confirms that Nash is not being moved today.
Derek Roy not moved. I'm sleepy.
Greg Zanon sent to Boston from Minnesota. Boston loading up. Amazing how such a stacked team can have the room to get better. Fantastic Cap management by their GM.
PIERRE KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!
Rangers acquire tough guy John Scott from the Blackhawks. Vancouver with a trade coming.
Pens didnt so anything. Didn't expect them to. Perfectly fine with that.
Predators send 1st and 4th to Buffalo for Gaustad.
How do the Capitals justify not making a single move?
Leafs and Ducks make a minor league deal. What ever.
Zach Kassian going from Buffalo to Vancouver in what is expected to be a larger trade. Interesting...
Cody Hodgson going the other way, at least, for Zach Kassian. May be more. Really young and talented players. Wow.
Full trade announced! Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer to the Sabres for Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani. Big, solid youth movement from the two teams. No doubt the biggest trade of the day.
Correction earlier, the Gaustad deal has Gaustad and a 4th going to Nashville, with the 1st going to Buffalo.
That looks to be about it. Official counter: 14 trades, 6 beers.
SPOKE TOO SOON! Canucks grab Andrew Gordon from the Ducks for a minor leaguer!
And that will do it for the first annual NHL Trade Deadline live blog. I may never do this again. I need a nap. Thanks for reading.
